Linea nigra is a dark line that some pregnant women see appearing on their lower tummy.
It can show up at any time, or not at all, depending on the individual person.
Here is what some ladies had to say…
“I’m 8 weeks pregnant but I got the line a few days before I was pregnant.”
“I got mine at 10 weeks.”
“I noticed my line on the 15th week of pregnancy. It runs from the pubic to halfway to my belly button. Above my belly button I noticed that it also run up, but it is really light. The bottom half is a bit darker and can notice it much more than the top.”
“I heard that most often it appears in the second or third trimester. But I know someone who has been pregnant twice and both times she had linea nigra as her very first symptom, before she even missed her period.”
“Your dark line sounds perfectly normal but if you are worried at all you should talk to your OBGYN.”
“I never got the line on my tummy at all.”
“It showed up later on during my second trimester.”
“Mine is very faint and it appeared at 23 weeks, much to my surprise haha.”
“I started seeing the line at around 12 weeks into my pregnancy.”
“Showed up late, at 30 weeks when I was not expecting it LOL.
“The line is caused by your individual hormones, so you might get it or you might not.”
“Mine has arrived, dear hubby thinks it is cute.”
“I had a light one that came at 18 weeks and kept getting longer and darker as the months passed by.”
“I still have my line, three months after my baby was born. When does it go away?”
“The line showed up at around the three month mark, at the end of my first trimester.”
“I had one and it took about six months to make the linea nigra fade away.”
